The cost of sharing a video on multiple platforms.

A difference with implementing a Video Marketing Strategy, compared to bringing in a videographer, includes working out the best way to distribute the video, and what that means to the filming and editing process.

This comes down to something called Aspect Ratio, which is simply the length of the long and short edges of the video and how many pixels that is measured in.

As a video production company we need to know this before we film. To make sure that we get enough coverage on the original shot to work with various the aspect ratios (shown well in the example below).

Different Aspect Ratios work better for different platforms.
So if a shot is filmed to look good in a close up on a standard horizontal orientation, then it is decided to have the video in an instagram story. The shot may no longer work, meaning it needed to be filmed again, increasing filming costs.

Also when editing video, unfortunately it is not just a case of hitting a button and various aspect ratios for different platforms dropping out.
Each shot should be re-aligned, centred and scaled, plus any captions generated will need resizing.

So when you sit down with your videographer or production company, make sure you lay down upfront where you want the video displayed, to avoid any future costs.
